I love passionfruit everything. The name “passionfruit” alone is an easy sell for me, not to mention the sweet/tart flavor profile. I also love LaCroix, I’ve even earned the nickname “LaCroix Boi” in certain social circles. My girlfriend feels the same way about LaCroix and from what I know she’s not opposed to passionfruit in any way, so I when I made a special cocktail for her birthday dinner, LaCroix had to be a major part of the recipe.
With this drink I wanted to create something sweet and but not over the top. With the ingredients I used this was a little difficult. I found a good balance in the passionfruit with the coconut rum, curbing it with a touch of lime juice. Overall this is a drink that goes down incredibly easy with a surprising amount depth for something so simple. Let’s get down to it.
1 oz Brugal Añejo Rum
0.5 oz Don Q Coconut Rum (any coconut rum will work)
0.5 oz Liber & Co. Passionfruit Syrup
1 oz Unsweetened Pineapple Juice
0.25 oz Fresh Lime Juice
3 Dashes Angostura Bitters
Splash of Passionfruit LaCroix
Combine all ingredients except LaCroix into a shaker. Shake with ice and strain into hurricane glass, top with LaCroix and garnish with a lime wheel.
Cheers and drink up!
